Yeti of Afghanistan

The user "PillowHandz" shared the below story on Reddit.

In 2012, I was in Kandahar. I was on night duty, and it was around midnight when I saw a movement in the trash pit. At first glance, it appeared to be a dog. However, it stood up like a human and then calmly walked away. I was shocked and petrified. We asked the villagers, and they told us that they are Yeti and one of their family lives in a cave there.

Every once in a while, they take one of the villagers to eat. I almost shit my pants when the interpreter told us. I was not the only one who saw this. Everyone from our COP saw it. Everyone called it, in a joke, “ManBearPig.”

We all used to laugh and joke about it, but one time, we had the chance to go after it, and nobody dared to volunteer. It was midnight, and I was about to fall asleep in my cot when I suddenly woke up due to a shot fired.

It was the Afghani army side of our camp. I and Master Sergeant geared up and went there to see what happened. The Afghani army explained to us that they saw a yeti, and they tried to shoot it, but it ran away.

The master sergeant looked at me and said, 'You want to get the guys up and go after this thing? We could be famous.'

I silently shook my head in 'NO.' He laughed, and then we went back to our beds.
