According to this user, the events took place in 2006-2007.
He was stationed at the Forward Operating Base in Southeast Baghdad. This place used to be for Saddam's regime.
There were buildings on the compound that were hit during the Shock and Awe campaign.
So it was very normal for stories to be passed down from unit to unit.
This user spent 15 months there. Their barrack was in the 7-story building, and the first 3 floors were occupied due to the rocket and mortar attacks.
To go to the 4th floor, they would have to get through a locked door, and due to the safety, the doors and the windows from the 4th to the 7th floors were all removed.
Now, things get really weird with this.
Almost every night, they would hear footsteps and sounds like someone running. Doors slammed in the absence of the doors.
Sometimes, the user and some of his teammates felt something or someone hit their bunk in the corner. Grabbing their sleeping bags and freaking them out.
Most of the weirdest things happened at the night watch duty. On multiple occasions, they would be hearing a little girl's laugh.
Iraqi music and voices coming out from the jails that were already bombed out.
